The UX-1 component devices, circuit configuration, and parts layout were all determined through a painstacking process aimed at maximizing the potential of the ultra-precise, highly rigid VRDS mechanism to provide a universal player with the world’s best image and sound quality.

Super audio CD, CD Player X-01D2

The X-01D2 is the new top end of the highly acclaimed "X" series which includes the "X-01 and X-01 Limited" audio players and the "UX-1 Limited" audio/video player. The newly designed X-01D2 was developed for the audiophile whose passion includes the ultimate in PCM decoding and SACD/DSD native playback. The D2 includes a refined version of the VRDS-NEO (Vibration free rigid disc clamping system), and the disc tracking sled assembly from Esoteric's P-03 disc transport. The multi-bit D/A converter includes a dual quad differential implementation for complete left and right channel separation. As in the X-01 and X-01 Limited, four DACs per channel are used (Burr-Brown 1704 x 4 + 4), and each set of four is configured on separate left and right circuit boards. In addition to multi-bit D/A technology, the D2 includes native direct stream digital (DSD) decoding using 1 bit signal processing converter chips (Analog Devices AD1955), and allows optional PCM to DSD and DSD to PCM signal conversion capability. The UX-3Pi includes incremental and optional updates to the UX-3SE. Audio playback circuitry in the Pi is identical to that of the SE. As in the UX-3SE, the UX-3Pi's advanced 14 bit video processing and custom video output stage enables DVD up-conversion to high definition "HD" output at 480p, 720p and 1080p. This is achieved from your existing DVD collection, without having to buy new software! The UX-3SE VRDS mechanism and Burr Brown 24 bit D/A converters are included. As a step up from the X-05, the X-03SE provides high quality 2ch audio output for SACD/CD reproduction. The X-03SE is the first ESOTERIC "X" series player that uses a die-cast aluminum and steel VRDS assembly. Specifically designed for the 2 channel audiophile, the X-03SE represents an evolutionary path from the X-01 family. The X-03SE includes an iLINK audio output connector for multi-channel SACD in the digital domain!

The X-05 includes Esoteric's new VRDS-Neo/VMK-5 transport mechanism. This new transport expands the VRDS family and is optimized for high speed rotational requirements of SACD and CD. The X-05 incorporates a newly developed, high precision aluminum turntable and a new drive mechanism for disc loading. The development of X-05 technologies allows VRDS to be utilized by a wider audience of audiophiles!

The SA-10, newly designed, engineered and manufactured by Esoteric, offers high grade audiophile performance to a wider audience at affordable price points. The SA-10 features our proprietary disc transport system which was developed as a vertically aligned optical stability platform ("VOSP"). The VOSP mechanism was first used in our UZ-1, SZ-1, DV-60 and SA-60. The benefit of this transport is that it reduces vibrations and resonance associated with signal noise and eliminates the need for off axis error correction. Unlike conventional disc players where the optics are supported by a wire platform, no off axis tracking is allowed by the VOSP system. This greatly improves data retrieval and dramatically reduces the need for data interpolation.

The new SA-50 is a:

1. Stand alone 32 bit dual mono D/A converter up to 88.2, 192 and even to DSD from S/PDIF, USB (Including PCM from a laptop) and optical inputs.
2. Digital pre-amp with attenuator (can feed directly into a power amp).
3. 32 bit CD/SACD player with PCM to DSD and DSD to PCM functionality.
4. A re-clocker with second PLL for external digital devices. (Plus master clock generator input for external clock).
